As expected, Ryan Giggs has been named in Stuart Pearce's Great Britain squad as one of three over age players. Tom Cleverley has also been named in the squad, which is made up of only English and Welsh players.
This will mean that the duo will most likely miss the start of the season, as well as the clubs pre season tour, especially if the squad goes deep into the compeition, with the Semi FInals played on the 7th August, and the final played on the 11th August. What most worries me is that Tom Cleverley now will struggle to get a full pre-season in, after a season that was blighted by injury last year, despite such a promising start.
It is also expected that David De Gea will be called up by Spain, meaning that our number 1 keeper is due to be away as well.
Here is the Great Britain 18 man squad.
Jack Butland (Birmingham), Jason Steele (Middlesbrough); Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea), Steven Caulker (Tottenham), Craig Dawson (West Brom), Micah Richards (Man City), Danny Rose (Tottenham), Neil Taylor (Swansea), James Tomkins (West Ham); Joe Allen (Swansea), Tom Cleverley (United), Jack Cork (Southampton), Ryan Giggs (United), Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal); Craig Bellamy (Liverpool), Scott Sinclair (Swansea), Marvin Sordell (Bolton), Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea)
