Manchester United Team News Update: Nemanja Vidic's 'knee is okay', Ashley Young has a 'dull knock' on his knee

Manchester United alleviates some of the fears over the injuries to Nemanja Vidic and Ashley Young. In addition, the West Ham United FA Cup replay could offer a return for two of United's prominent attackers.

There was concern after the Liverpool match on Sunday when Nemanja Vidic and Ashley Young were substituted off because of what was thought to be knee injuries for both. The latter was even seen on crutches after the match. Vidic's situation was particularly worrisome because of the serious knee trouble that's he's had in the past thirteen months. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, though, has somewhat quelled those fears:

"Actually, Vida's knee is okay. It was concussion. He had a little bit of concussion but he's okay and fine. He trained yesterday and was good. There are no other serious knocks really. I think they're all pretty good. Obviously, Young has got a dull knock, a little bit of a strain on the knee, but it's nothing serious. I think he'll be back next week. Maybe not for Tottenham but, the week after, he should be okay."

Concussions are obviously never good but it's probably the lesser of two evils for the United captain when considering his recent knee troubles. The news on Young is good as well as it appears he won't miss many games. Both likely would have been rotated out anyway for tomorrow's FA Cup replay with West Ham United.

Ferguson did indicate that both Wayne Rooney and Nani would likely feature against the Hammers. Both attackers had been out as of late due to injury so a return at Old Trafford tomorrow evening will be a welcomed return. Anderson has recently regained fitness as well and he's certainly in contention to start.

Jonny Evans reportedly picked up a hamstring knock on Saturday in training and that's why he wasn't in the eighteen versus Liverpool. The seriousness of it is still unknown. If the knock is still a factor, he'll probably miss tomorrow night's FA Cup tie. With Vidic out, and with Rio Ferdinand likely to be rested, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones could be the central-defenders against Sam Allardyce's side.
