But is he telling the truth?
Recently the Daily Express came out and said there had been a change of tack at Man Utd after their showing in the Summer Transfer Window. They have planned to play down expectations after numerous unsuccessful high profile bids for players such as Fabregas, Herrera and Baines.
The Brutal Truth is that Moyes needs to improve this current crop of players and he needs to buy big and a lot of fans expected a lot from the January Transfer Window. To be honest it is only reasonable that United fans expect a lot due to the poor form in the league and the lack of a major signing in the summer.
The media have been trying to predict who they will be buying in this window and a lot of players have been linked players such as Koke, Reus, Matic, and the ever present Sneijdier. All the newspapers reporting the United will be going after a number of World Class players and spending the £120m that they put aside for Bale in the summer. It would be great to hear on Sky Sports News that Man Utd have made a Club Record bid for Vidal or Reus or even if they signed Coentrao or Baines but what if they don’t? Where would that leave United’s season?
Well, it wouldn’t reassure fans that may be starting to question Moyes and it wouldn’t give the squad a boost that could start a charge in the second half of the season! A Big Name Signing may have even persuaded Rooney that Manchester United will rule once again and may have put pen to paper to finish his career with United.
In terms of realistic ambitions for a squad like United’s with no new signings may be much lower than previous years but finishing 4th but this would rely on RVP and Rooney being fit and firing on all cylinders for the rest of the season, and possibly a Domestic Cup preferably the FA Cup. However, if inconsistency continues then the Champions of England may be looking at the Euro Cup which would surely be too poorer season for Moyes to keep his job after all this team did win the league, last season, at a canter. I dread to think what would happen to RVP, Rooney, Evra and the quality of potential recruits if that did happen.
So let’s hope that Moyes is a fan of magic and pulls a World Class player or two out of his hat or he will have to be Harry Houdini to escape the angry mob of Manchester United fans if he fails to deliver.
