Dear SAF & the Board of Directors, for the love of God, get off your moral high horses and admit you've appointed the wrong man in Moyes. He is never going to deliver us a tactical masterclass to beat Chelsea and Man City... let alone Bayern Munich, Barcelona & Real Madrid. Hell, he couldn't even come out with a way to beat Tottenham, Sunderland, Stoke and bottom of the table Fulham. Spraying 81 crosses from the wings in the Fulham match was not a tactical masterclass. It was a parochial, cerebral limitation coming from the mind of a manager with no craft, creativity or strategic ability. It was a tragedy for Utd fans to watch, a comedy to the rest.
BTW did any of you actually admire the football played by Everton in the decade plus that Moyes was in charge? Seriously? I will always support Manchester United until the day I die. Players come and go. So do managers. The one thing I will not do as a fan of Utd since 1976 (a time when we went on wining nothing) is to shut up & support a regime that is bringing destruction to my beloved club. Our job is not to shut up and support the manager. Our job is to support the club. Our job is to save our club from destruction from without and within. Our job is to point out and oppose things that are not right. And David Moyes is not right. Not now. Not ever. Man Utd is better than this.
The exceptionally talented team of players deserve a better manager than this. You may argue he deserves time as the great SAF did. But SAF inherited not a team of Champion footballers but a bunch of drunken sailors. Give him ore time? Well, Liverpool gave Graeme Souness plenty. Enough time for a self-destruction so damaging that Liverpool hadn't won the league in 24 years. And STILL HAVEN'T. The fact that their fans this season indulge in ape-like chest-beatings without actually winning anything but only because Man Utd falter so incessantly proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that 24 years of trophy deprivation can turn any civilized man into a stark raving-mad simian. Darwin's Theory of Evolution has got nothing on trophy starvation regressing Man into Ape. And that's dangerous. Especially when the fictional Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hasn't even been unleashed on the public.
Moyes's work now looks every bit a pastiche of Souness's grand demolition of Liverpool FC. So here's the bottom line. Admit you've hired the wrong manager. Admit your decision making wasn't infallible. Admit the future of the club is more important than your pride. Admit there are far better candidates more deserving of this job. Admit you cannot run a football club like iron-fisted authoritarian despots who turn a deaf ear on the fans, the predominantly working-class who pay to support your salaries and bonuses. Admit that the workforce is not responding to its Manager and paradoxically the Manager's credibility, whatever little of it there was, has been so diminishing in return that the workforce is just not galvanized to play ball, pun intended, anymore. Admit, for the love of the club, that we've all seen enough to KNOW that the Moyes regime is a lame-duck regime made up of an inept leader and his band of equally inept coaching sycophants. Admit that this regime must be brought to an end. Now.
