Old Trafford once known as the "the theater of Dreams "for Manchester united FC , but unfortunately under David Moyes Managerial reigns it has become the "the theater of night mares" with another poor performance this time against their arch rivals Manchester city and a 6th home defeat of 3-0, the aftermath saw the stewards guarding the banner "the chosen one" at the Stratford end, the defeat left united reeling 12 points behind 4th place Arsenal, and similarly in the 13/14 season ,Manchester united have just gained one victory while playing against the top 5 EPL clubs, which simply shows how United’s season has progressed this season. While, their last chances of winning a trophy look very dark and gloomy, as the Red Devils would face Bayern Munich in the Quarter finals round of the Uefa Champions League, who are undefeated in their last 52 matches.Bayern Munich, whom under Pepp Guardiola have look one of the best sides in Europe and will provide David Moye’s team a very tough competition.
Similarly, it seemed very much imperative when sir Alex Ferguson retired after 27 years being in charge of Manchester united, the task of replacing him already looked very daunting, and it required an experienced and a high profile manger to handle such kind of pressure and expectations of replacing him. While at the time of sir Alex’s retirement the board and Ferguson had allot of decent options available to choose from, in the form of Jose Mourinho, Jurgen klopp, Carlo Ancelotti and even Pepp Guardiola , was available before joining Bayern Munich. Therefore, hiring one of the top managers would have certainly ensured a top four finishes at least for the Red Devils.
David Moyes at first place wasn’t the right manager to replace Sir Alex, simply because he was a mid table manager, and has similarly, has turned United into a mid table team earlier than anyone could have predicted. Consequently incorrect comparisons had been made ,at the start of the reign of David Moyes with Sir Alex, who hadn’t won a trophy in his first few seasons, but Sir Alex took over a mid table team and made them in champions and had a wonderful track record of winning titles in Scottish football before joining Manchester united, while David Moyes hadn’t won anything in his 10 years at Everton FC.
Likewise, the impact David Moyes was going to have at Manchester United could have been easily expected earlier , as during the pre season ,Manchester united had lost games against the Asian clubs which had never happened before, while furthermore, the refusal of big names players to sign for United under David moyes was another reason and lastly a very poor start of the season had shown what to anticipate in the reign of David Moyes and the biggest flaw seen in David Moyes Managerial abilities is the lack of sound tactics and the authority to drop big names from the starting lineup , like Fergie could do, to drop players who haven’t performed well.
Consequently, with David Moyes ,who has made two costly signings of Maroune Felliani for £27.5M, and Juan Mata for a club record £37M,who haven’t performed as well, now there are talks within of giving £150M to David Moyes for a major overhaul in the club, but looking at the current situation can the United board trust him now? The answer is simply no, therefore by the end of the season Manchester united should look to sign an experienced and high profile Manager to bring Manchester United back to the elite Football Clubs of England and Europe.
