Potentially good defenders for Manchester United

Given the situation with the retirement of Ferdinand and the departure of Vidić to Inter Milan, it's no secret that United needs to sign at least one decent center-back that can provide defensive solvency and assurance to the back four. And so I made up a list of potentially good defenders that would be good signings for United.

João Miranda and Diego Godín.They're arguably the best defensive duo in Europe at the moment. Any of them wouldprovide United the sufficent solvency the team needs after the departures of Rio and Vidić. They're both internationals with their respective countries, so they have plenty of experience.

Mateo Musacchio. He has been one of the revelation players of the season. His consistency has caught the eye of many European giants, including Barcelona. Of course they can't sign any players until after next year. His performance against Barcelona early this year was praised even though his team lost. He also scored an own goal in favor of Barca, but nonetheless, he is a very solid defender. Needs a little work on his passing, but hey, he's a defender, not a midfielder. As long as he prevents goals we're fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssN5wgvGXng.

Federico Fazio. Standing at 6"6, Fazio has a tall, strong physique that imposes respect. Obviously due to his height, he is well suited for the English football. A player of Fazio's capabilities would be an upgrade for United.

Aymeric Laporte. At age 19, he is one of Europe's best young defenders. He has a high ceiling obviously. Having missing signing Javi Martínez, United won't want to miss on Laporte neither. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXqN7EieWVs

Adil Rami. Valencia own his transfer rights but he doesn't want to come back for the Che. United could fish in trubled waters in attempting to sign Rami.

Bruno Martins Indi and Stefan de Vrij. They're both regulars under rumored United new coach, Louis Van Gaal. Both Martins Indi and de Vrij have more than 100 caps for Feyenoord. It wouldn't be surprising if Van Gaal was to sign either one in case he does signs for United.

Ron Vlaar. He's another one of Van Gaal's unconditional for the Netherlands. He's also the leading defensive force for Aston Villa. I know, Villa have not been very good this season, but among their bright spots is Vlaar who's an absolute rock at defense. He stands out for being a leader and precisely, United are gonna need one for next season.

Dória (Botafogo). He might be a relative unknown player (for now) but the Brazilian has shown lot pf promise and has a lot of potential. He made his senior debut for Brazil first rather that featuring for the U20's. He is the current captain of the U20 Brazilian team and last year he won the Toulon Tournament and was the named the tournaments best defender. Among Dória's skillfulness are his proficiency to command his defensive line. He is a natural leader and very solid at man marking. Dória is the next great defender coming from Brazil. He continues on the path of Thiago Silva and many others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fQPrZL6ma4

Dedé (Cruzeiro). He has been linked with a number of top clubs, Milan, Barcelona, Bayern Munich. His reputation back in Brazil precedes him. He has won countless titles including being named in the team of the year for three times, including last year when he won the league and was also named best defender.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FsTqv_6XuU0

Fernando Tobio. He has been an undisputed player for the multi-champion Vélez Sarsfield. They have been the dominate force in Argentina for the past 5 years. They've won title after title, and they have enjoyed of being arguably the best defense in than span.
