Mehdi Benatia is the main target for Manchester United as the club bid to reinforce their defensive ranks, according to ESPN.
The news comes from Miguel Delaney, who is usually reliable, so we can state there is definitely at least some interest there. £30m is the fee suggested it would take to prise him from Roma.
The piece, which you can read here, also goes into detail on other matters - with Arturo Vidal still being a target, William Carvalho being the backup option, Marcos Rojo being involved, and Angel di Maria still being under consideration. Most worryingly/tellingly, it also states that Van Gaal is becoming increasingly annoyed with how long things are taking, with the only two transfers made so far ones that were already effectively completed before the window opened.
It looks like we might have a frantic few weeks ahead of us. Oh, and stay tuned, because there's plenty of other news emerging tonight...
