Welcome one and all. It's the start of a beautiful new season, the debut proper of Louis van Gaal, and a few other players too. It's Manchester United vs. Swansea City, and if we're ever to get a feeling of deja vu over the David Moyes reign, let it be now, when we kicked off last season with the same fixture and won 4-1.
There's a big surprise as Jesse Lingard is at wing-back, and Tyler Blackett starts in defence as expected. Ander Herrera and Darren Fletcher comprise the midfield (a novel concept), while Javier Hernandez partners Wayne Rooney in attack ahead of Juan Mata.
Ashley Young is the other wing-back - it's not clear precisely who's on what side yet. Adnan Januzaj and Shinji Kagawa, along with Reece James, who most expected to start at left-back, are all on the bench.
Manchester United starting lineup (3-4-1-2): David de Gea; Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Tyler Blackett; Rafael, Darren Fletcher, Ander Herrera, Reece James; Juan Mata; Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez.
