Manchester United's reaction to a £1.5b bid from a Qatari company has some good news and some bad news if you're hoping to see the Glazer family sell the team. The good news is: they're probably going to sell the club. The bad news is that it won't be happening any time in the near future.

That's what Michael Edelson, director of Manchester United said today following reports ( Sunday Mirror ) of a £1.5bn take over bid from Qatar Holdings, who were at one time rumored to a takeover of Everton ( Liverpool Daily Post ). Qatar Holdings is a major shareholder in Volkswagen and Porsche, as well as owning Herrod's and several properties in London.

Those rumors were quashed today by Edelson who said, "It is inevitable that at some time they will sell ... but that will be a long way down the line."
