For the first time in my life I actually wish I was in Toronto. Gasp!!! For those who don't know, everyone in Western Canada is programmed to hate Toronto. They think they are the center of the universe. It's not a very nice city to visit. It's cold in the winter and hot and muggy in the summer. Vancouver on the other hand? Practically utopia. Mild winters and nice summers. If you can stomach a little rain once in a while, and it's not as bad as people make out, it's one of the great cities in the world. It's like Vancouver is Manchester and Toronto is Leeds. And who would want to be in Leeds?
But today I am wishing I was in Toronto. Because Manchester United are in Toronto. The Red Devils will be taking on Celtic at the Rogers Center on Friday at 4pm pacific standard time. The game is being shown on live TV here in Canada so I am going to get to watch it. I can NOT wait. So excited. I wish I was going to the game, I wish I was in Toronto, but I am not. So I will watch the game on TV here at work and maybe annoy my co-workers with a couple rounds of the 12 days of Cantona.
I will have more in the coming days including a look back at the last time Celtic and United met in North America. A game I managed to attend. And maybe even some recollections of United v. Vancouver Whitecaps from back in the 70s. Plus we will look at who is playing in the match and lots more. Start getting excited the season is almost upon us.
