Current Olimpique Lyon and France No 1, Hugo Lloris has revealed that Manchester United is a "dream" move for him. The 24 year-old French goalkeeper is one of many recent goalkeepers rumored to be the successor to 40 year-old Edwin van der Sar, who has announced his retirement at season's end. The strongest links in the most recent rumors have included Ajax and Netherlands No 1 Maarten Stekelenburg, who apparently has the endorsement of van der Sar himself, and also Schalke and Germany No 1 Manuel Neuer. United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted error in the past in trying to find a successor to legend Peter Schmeichel, and it must be encouraging to United supporters that so many quality goalkeepers have recently been linked as a successor to van der Sar.

United recently signed Anders Lindegaard in the January transfer window, and still have Tomasz Kuszczak on the squad, but neither seem to be favored as the No 1 come August. Other goalkeepers recently linked to United are David de Gea (Atletico Madrid), Rene Adler (Bayer Leverkusen), Igor Akinfeev (CSKA Moscow), and Pepe Reina (Liverpool FC), and Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus).
