*UPDATE* It appears that Michael Owen's injury is not as serious as originally thought. He is still out for the FA Cup match versus Crawley, but he may be available for the Champions League match at Marseille.
Manchester United striker Michael Owen may miss the remainder of the season after he suffered a groin injury in training at United's Carrington training ground. The injury prone Owen is in his second season with United, and the striker has been unavailable to the club much of that time due to a variety of injuries. The 31 year-old currently sat behind Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, and Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez in the pecking order for strikers, however, Owen was expected to be called upon this weekend to start again Crawley Town in Saturday's FA Cup match at Old Trafford. Owen's main value to the club for the season's remainder was depth, as the Red Devils have a congested fixture list remaining due to league play, UEFA Champions League, and the FA Cup. His appearance versus Southampton in a FA Cup battle a few weeks back was likely Owen's last for United, as he's expected to leave the club in the summer. United is now down to three experienced strikers due to Federico Macheda being out on loan to Serie A's Sampdoria and Danny Welbeck being on loan to Sunderland. Bebe or Gabriel Obertan could be used as the 4th striker in a pinch if needed.
