Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-sung has been offered a two-year extension to his current contract, one that is due to expire in 2012. The tactical swiss-army knife joined the club in 2005 and at the time of the signing, there was cynical speculation that he was brought to sell shirts. However, the energetic Korean has surpassed all expectations during his time with the club and his importance to Sir Alex Ferguson is evident when the manager continually chooses him during United's biggest matches - including two UEFA Champions League final starts. Here is what Fergie had to say about his industrious midfielder during United's pre-season tour from Chicago:
"He's (Park) been offered a new contract, yes. I'm sure he'll sign it. His career at United has been nothing but excellent. He's a tremendous professional. I'm sure he'll accept a new offer and tie himself to the club for the next two years."

If you happen to wonder what I think of this decision - I approve.
