For the better part of an hour, it was a fast and fluid match at Old Trafford, but an end product was lacking. Finally, in the 61st minute, a breakthrough occurred when a Tom Cleverely cross was brilliantly headed far-post by Danny Welbeck. The rout was on. A quarter of an hour later, Welbeck played a clever back-heel in for Anderson who cooly finished - an absolutely gorgeous goal. In the 87th minute, substitute Ryan Giggs played a delicious right-footed chip in for Wayne Rooney who clinically finished a header - a goal that proved to be the dagger. It was wonderful night for the champions at they thumped Tottenham Hotspur in the 2nd half. Manchester United will next host a reeling Arsenal FC on Sunday.

Please share your thoughts on the match in the comments below. Who is your man of the match? Many positives to take away: Phil Jones and Jonny Evans were tremendous in the back. Chris Smalling mostly silenced Gareth Bale. Cleverley and Anderson bossed the middle. Young and Nani were terrors on the flanks. Rooney and Welbeck were deadly up front.
