POST-MATCH REACTION THREAD: Manchester United 8-2 Arsenal FC

In a cracking and scintillating match at Old Trafford, a fast and fluid Manchester United absolutely demolished Arsenal FC 8-2. Danny Welbeck opened the scoring with a cool finish after a delightful scooped ball was played over the top by Anderson in the 22nd minute. The rout was on. Wayne Rooney provided two brilliant free kick goals along with a late penalty to complete a hat-trick. Ashley Young contributed with a hat-trick of assists along with a cracking brace as well. Late in the match, both Nani and Park Ji-sung got in on the goal party and bagged goals themselves. The tie was an open and box-to-box affair - both sides had numerous chances and broke at speed in attack. However, with Arsenal depleted due to departures, injury, and suspension, United clearly were the side with the precision and class. In fact, the Reds could have realistically scored 10 goals in this match had they been more clinical.

The match is cruel reminder to Arsene Wenger on how tumultuous the situation is at his club. His depth and youth is nowhere in the class of United. There is question whether a full-strength Arsenal squad is even quality enough to earn a top four finish. It is also a fun realization for United supporters on how bright both the now and future is. This squad, which has averaged 23 years of age the past two matches, has earned themselves two North London scalps in a week's time. And scored an incredible 11 goals in those matches. This season could have not have started any brighter.

I had some issues with my television cable provider for this match so I will have to watch it again in order to provide a tactical analysis - if you even fancy one right now. Perhaps we all should just go celebrate instead right now. Enjoy this one. We just scored 8 goals on Arsenal. Amazing stuff for United, embarrassment for the Gunners.
