First of all, our apologies that there was no live game thread. I will do my best to make sure that this does not happen again. I wish I could also apologize for this lackluster display from Manchester United as well but there is not much I can do to control that. In the big picture, a draw away to Benfica is not a terrible result -- this was anticipated to be our most difficult UEFA Champions League group stage fixture and we still are favorites to win our group. It certainly was not a good performance, far from it, but a few positives can be taken away from this match. Darren Fletcher and Antonio Valencia each returned from illness and injury, respectively, and played 69 minutes each. In addition, Anders Lindegaard got playing time in an important match and showed very well as a shot stopper and with his command in the box -- although his distribution leaves a bit to be desired. Perhaps it was fortunate that Ryan Giggs put United level just before half against the run of play, but my initial reaction is that a 1-1 draw is a fair result for both sides. Benfica played decently well. United did not. But we're still in decent position in Group C still. Discuss and debate your thoughts and reactions to this match.
