Is Ravel Morrison set to leave in the summer?

I'll keep this brief because quite simply, there isn't a lot of solid information to go on. Nonetheless, since Ravel Morrison is a player that intrigues so many, it's probably worth bringing up that there's increased speculation that the starlet could be leaving Manchester United in the summer when his contract expires. A few of you have already commented on Morrison in the past few days in our January transfer window thread, but feel free to use the comments section from this write-up as a specific thread for the youngster. This report by the Sun claims that contract talks between the player and club have broke down and that Morrison "is now ready to move on despite his unquestionable talent." This report by the Guardian claims a source that simply says the starlet "just wants to play" and the report also points out that talks have not stalled because they never even opened. Either way, that is disheartening.

The 18-year-old -- who was a key player from last season's FA Youth Cup winning side -- has only appeared in two Carling Cup matches this season for the first-team at United. Perhaps it is his high-profiled legal trouble, perhaps it is a lack of progress in his development as a player -- it really is speculation at this point as to why he hasn't featured more. But, all indications are that Morrison's departure from the club this summer is a real possibility. He is very highly-rated and even clubs like FC Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain are reported to be tracking the player. If he were to leave for a club away from England, United would receive £300,000 in compensation for development costs -- the EPPP goes into effect June 1 and it is not entirely clear if the club would receive the same compensation if he were to join another club in England.
