Federico Macheda officially joins Queens Park Rangers on loan

A few days ago, it was reported that Manchester United striker Federico Macheda was '95%' certain to join Queens Park Rangers on loan during the January transfer window. Well, make that 100% now since the striker has officially joined the London side on loan. Macheda even made an appearance today when he came on as a substitute in the 81st minute during QPR's 2-1 defeat by Norwich City. Kiko had only 6 appearances for United this season and playing time is obviously a must for the 20-year-old's development. Consistent playing time in QPR's attack is not a guarantee though as the likes Shaun Wright-Phillips, Adel Taarabt, Jay Bothroyd, DJ Campbell, Heidar Helguson provide competition for spots. However, Kiko apparently sought advice from Rio Ferdinand about QPR -- the club where Rio's brother Anton Ferdinand plays at -- and the former United and England captain told the youngster that the loan would be a positive move. Here is what Kiko had to say about the advice that Rio gave him:

"I spoke with Rio and he told me that QPR is a very good club and that if I did come here it would be good for me and would help me develop as a player."
