POST-MATCH QUOTES
Sir Alex Ferguson | MUFC manager (courtesy of ITV)
(Overall thoughts...) "I've got to be pleased with the possession and the concentration was really good tonight. Apart from the goal we defended very well. They hit so many really good, telling crosses into our box that kept us under pressure all the time, kept us on edge. David [De Gea] made a good save at the end so I've got to be pleased. Coming away from home in Europe is never easy and as I said before the game, they've a good record here."
(On Rooney and van Persie...) "The pass and the finish were both equally as good. Fantastic finish of course, but what a nice ball Wayne has dropped in. I thought actually it was too far, but Robin did well to get to it."
(On Evans coming due what looked like a knock...) "Jonny got injured on Saturday. He had a recurrence of that. It is a dead leg. He has five days to recover for Sunday. Hopefully he will be okay."

(On how he's settled in at United...) "I think I'm on the way. I'd like to make more assists. I have seven goals but for me, as I've said many times, it's not only about goals. Of course it's about winning, but I want to make more assists. Until now, I gave only one so I want that to improve a bit. I'm on a good run but I can always do better."
(On whether his second goal on the evening was his best in a United shirt...) "I have to look at it again, but it felt good when it came off. Everything starts with a good pass so I have to thank Wayne, because not many players can give a pass like that. It was good build-up play before the goal and, when it came to him, I knew he could see that pass and actually give it exactly the way I wanted, so credit to Wayne."
(On starting alongside Rooney...) "I think it's the first time we both started together and we're both very pleased with that, but we're all in it together. Chicharito played very well today, we have Danny [Welbeck], we have lots of strikers so we're all doing it together."

(On conceding another early goal...) "Obviously it's not nice. It's something we need to make sure we stop doing. We can't keep affording to let teams get a headstart on us, especially in the Champions League when it's very difficult to win the game anyway. We have to make sure we're more solid than we have been and hopefully we can be in future games."
(Overall thoughts...) "It was quite tough at times but, thankfully, we've got the three points and that's the main thing. I played a bit deeper tonight and had some good moments [with van Persie]. Robin has got two goals tonight and we're delighted. I didn't know the first one was off his shoulder until he said it at half time but as long as it goes in, it doesn't matter. It was a great finish for the second goal. I was right behind it. I could see it was a fantastic finish. It was a difficult pitch to play on, really bobbly and hard. So we had to make sure we were fully concentrated to get our touch and passing right. I don't mind playing in a deeper position because I get on the ball more but the main thing for us is just getting out of this group and progressing to the knockout stages. We're in a good position now and, if we win our next game against Braga, we'll be in a great position."
