It's been anticipated that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson would soon have a statue at Old Trafford. The club has announced the date -- here's their release announcing the date:

"Manchester United is delighted to announce today - on the 26th anniversary of Sir Alex Ferguson's appointment - that a statue of Britain's most successful football manager will be unveiled at Old Trafford on Friday 23 November at 14:00 GMT.

The unveiling will take place the day before United's home match with Queens Park Rangers, concidentally the same opponents Sir Alex faced in his first home game in charge on 22 November 1986. Key figures from the manager's time at United will be in attendance to share the occasion.

The statue by renowned sculptor Philip Jackson was commissioned to mark the manager's quarter of a century in charge of Manchester United. It will be placed in a prominent position near the entrance to the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand - formerly the North Stand which was renamed in his honour last year.

The club will also be unveiling new artwork and installations in the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand concourses which will illustrate the manager's achievements throughout his United career.

Details for fans wishing to attend the ceremony will be communicated in due course."

Congratulations Sir Alex. United fans are grateful to have football's greatest manager of all-time lead the club for these past 26 years.
