Sir Alex Ferguson has given his clearest hint yet that Dimitar Berbatov looks set for a summer move away from Old Trafford. The club's official website had this.

At the moment, he remains at United. But I'd listen to what he says. I think he's concerned he isn't getting enough first-team football. It's difficult for me to guarantee that. At 31, you can understand he wants that. It may lead to him looking elsewhere."

The gaffer also suggested that the £30M man could play tomorrow night in the Europa League against Athletic Club (Bilbao).

This bit of news should suprise no one. We will extend his deal by a year, and then recoup whatever transfer money we can. I wonder how many games he has left in his United career? He has given us some wonderful highlights such as the hat trick against Liverpool. The third goal would have been the best overhead kick cored last season in a United shirt, had Wayne Rooney not trumped it with His Effort against City!

His goals last year were crucial to our title win. Most were scored early in the season, but then the emergence of Chicarito meant he spent many games on the bench. This year, the emergence of Danny Welbeck after his spell at Sunderland last year has not only kept him on the bench, but also not even in the 18 at times. This also happened in last season's Champions League final, where the injury blighted Micheal Owen was chosen ahead of him.

I have never been his biggest fan. A great player, but just has never fufilled his £30M price tag. I sometimes wonder if my feelings would have been different had he arrived for half of that money....

What are your thoughts on this news? Are you happy or sad? What will be your memories of Dimitar Berbatov once he leaves?
