Darren Fletcher has claimed that he is eyeing a return to playing next season. The Scotland midfielder has not played since November due to the Chronic Bowel disease (ulcerative colitis) that flared up again, after it originally saw him miss much of last season too.

"I'm still not ready to come back playing or training yet but I'm listening to the medical people and trying to get myself right,"

"The challenge and the focus is to be ready for next season.

"Me and the medical team decided it'd be best if I tried to get myself right and take an extended period out from the game; then come back fully fit and ready to play.

While the return of Paul Scholes has helped the Manchester United midfield recover from the loss, Fletch's bite in the midfield and tireless running has stll been missed. probably more so than people realise. I for one hope that he is able to recover his best form as there is not another player really like him in the Manchester United squad. He compliments all other midfielders well, has an under-rated passing range and can grab a crucial goal at times too.

His "condition" is an unpredictable one however. So there is no timescale on his return, and maybe it is a stretch for him to get back to his best. Because he had such a good engine, you have to wonder if his stamina may diminish slightly when he does return. Lets wish him all the best in his continued revovery though.
