I suppose it's that time of year. Clubs, agents, players, and even player's family members begin to cunningly leak quotes so that each party can try to optimize their position as the upcoming summer transfer window nears. The most persistent rumors that pertain to Manchester United in recent days have been links to Borussia Dortmund's Shinji Kagawa (TBB's analysis here) and Lille's Eden Hazard (TBB's analysis here). For the past half year or so, there have been continual links as well for Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan. The latest speculation has been that there might be an agreement in place -- or perhaps close to one -- where United would offer a transfer fee in the region of £20 million, Federico Macheda, and Fabio on loan for one season and in return, they would be given the services of the 24-year-old Gaitan. The Argentine's agent, Jose Ibarren, reveals that his client desires a move a move to Old Trafford according to a report by the Guardian:
"Nicolás likes Manchester United a lot – he would like to play for Manchester United. If there is an offer for him Nicolás would be happy to listen and negotiate."

If you happened to have missed it, here is TBB's analysis on Gaitan and the piece also examines how he might potentially fit in at United.
