Yesterday, it was announced that Ryan Giggs will captain the Great Britain Olympic team. ManUnited.com has these quotes.

"Obviously I have experience and I can pass that on. Obviously it is a tremendous honour to be part of the Olympics. Stuart has given me the captaincy, which is even better so I am really looking forward to it.

"It is a unique experience and one from the start that I wanted to be part of when I got the opportunity. I think it just got more and more exciting as the Games got nearer and then when the squads were announced I was obviously really, really proud to be involved."

I guess the other candidates that were considered are the two other over age players, Craig Bellamy and Micah Richards, along with Welsh Captain Aaron Ramsey. As much as we all love Giggs, his age and now lack of legs will make it difficult to play a full part in all games, meaning he will have to be used sparingly. Unless Pierce is going to rotate him in, and use a vice captain as well

The other Manchester United players competeting at the Olympics are Tom Cleverley (GB) David De Gea (Spain) and Rafael (Brazil)
