Sky Sports are reporting that Paris Saint Germain are now favoroutes to sign the highly talented Brazilian Lucas Moura after Sao Paulo have confirmed that they are in talks with the stupidly rich French outfit. This news, combined with the fact that Manchester City gaffer Roberto Mancini confirmed his club are unlikely to sign want away Arsenal man Robin Van Persie means we are now in pole position to sign the Premier League top scorer of last season.
FIirst off, lets take a gander at the Moura story even though the whole thing has become tiresome. (Same could be said of the whole transfer window really)
It appears a different story each day is coming out regarding Moura. First Inter are in pole position, then we are close to signing him. But now, it appears we have definatley cooled our interest in him after failing to match Sao Paulo's asking price of £35M.
If the PSG deal does happen, Sky Sports believes the player will stay in Brazil untill January. It remains to be seen if the player wants to move to France, but if he doesn't, I am sure the lure of a blank check will sway his mind. He will also get the chance to play with some fantastic players. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Javier Pastore as well as fellow countryman Thiago Silva.
Initially, I was a little down on the RVP rumours. But this time, I will take a look on the brighter side. First, a look at the Mancini quote.
"Van Persie? No I don't think he will come here
Ever the man of many words....
It has been speculated ever since the news broke that RVP wanted out of Arsenal that he he favoured a move to us over City and Juventus. And Sir Alex Ferguson has also said he is keen to sign the Dutchman. What we would be getting is a prolific striker who can score from anywhere within 30 yards. A brilliant free kick taker (Something we have lacked in recent years). Defences would hate to try and mark both he and Wayne Rooney, who I am sure would love to see him come to Old Trafford, despite both occupying similar area's of the pitch.
No, he is not the centre midfielder we crave to have. And yes, his wages may be a little on the high side. But if RVP does come to Old Trafford, I would be very excited to know that we have his goal scoring ability up top, alongside Wayne Rooney.
