According to a report by the Guardian's Jamie Jackson, the trio of Robin van Persie, Shinji Kagawa, and Javier Hernandez (Chicharito) were all spotted at a sponsor's launch on Friday evening and because of this, it is being suggested that each may miss out for tomorrow afternoon's tie with Wigan Athletic. Earlier today, during manager Sir Alex Ferguson's weekly press conference, he shared that with the exception of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, his entire squad is fit for selection -- although Wayne Rooney is expected to be out and Ashley Young is a doubt. The gaffer did express his concern though for the distances traveled by Kagawa, Chicharito, and Antonio Valencia as each recently returned from World Cup qualifiers in Asia and the Americas. van Persie was substituted off at half-time on Tuesday during Holland's World Cup qualifier because of a knock.
It certainly wouldn't be surprising if each was omitted for tomorrow's match because a midweek UEFA Champions League clash with Galatasaray and next weekend's visit to Anfield awaits Manchester United. It's very possible that each of the mentioned players in this report is rested when minor knocks and travel concerns are considered. However, in this scenario, that would only leave Fergie with the strike force options of Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda. If Young is healthy though, he would be possible to play 'in the hole' in behind Welbeck. Fergie is always coy though with revealing injury information so don't be surprised if RvP, Kagawa, and Chicharito each start or are omitted.
