Sunderland vs. Manchester United: Preview and team news

Manchester United will look to steady the ship after a recent poor run of form by beating Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in Saturday's late kick-off.

Manchester United travel to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland in the late kick-off as David Moyes looks to put an end to the club's recent poor run of form.

David Moyes will check on Wayne Rooney's fitness, but the only confirmed absence is likely to be Rio Ferdinand, with Nemanja Vidic and Jonny Evans the likely partnership in central defence.

If Rooney is not fit enough to start, Danny Welbeck, Shinji Kagawa or Javier Hernandez will likely be competing to partner Robin van Persie in attack. Adnan Januzaj is available, with some suggestions that he will actually start the game.

For Sunderland, Steven Fletcher and former Red Wes Brown will both definitely miss the game.

Predicted line-up: David de Gea; Rafael, Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra; Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini; Antonio Valencia, Wayne Rooney, Nani; Robin van Persie.

While Rooney may not quite be fit, it'd still be a surprise to see Moyes throw Adnan Januzaj into a must-win away game. It's more likely to see him start the game.

TBB-advised starting line-up: David de Gea; Rafael, Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra; Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini; Nani, Robin van Persie, Adnan Januzaj; Javier Hernandez.

It's always a risk to start both Januzaj and Kagawa considering both are quite lightweight and both tend to fade after a half of football. If Rooney isn't fit, Javier Hernandez has more than deserved the chance of a start.
