Manchester United draw Sunderland in the League Cup semi-final

Manchester United will play Sunderland in the League Cup semi-final.

Manchester United will face Sunderland in the League Cup semi-final, with Manchester City and West Ham United the two teams comprising the other.

United are into the semi-final after defeating Stoke City earlier 2-0 at the Britannia Stadium thanks to goals from Ashley Young and Patrice Evra.

United now face the possibility of a final against either West Ham or Manchester City if they can progress against Gus Poyet's men.

It's a kind draw, of course (if there's one thing that's improved in the David Moyes era, it's draws, which just goes to show the old Ferguson myths were highly overstated...) as we avoid Manchester City, and Sunderland are in a relegation battle so will have other priorities. Nonetheless, it'd be nice to see Moyes name a strong lineup - we're still technically not out of the running for any trophies, of course, but it's pretty vital we win at least one in Moyes' first year in charge.
