Robin van Persie returns to the Manchester United lineup for the visit of Newcastle in a must-win game at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney is suspended, so Javier Hernandez partners the Dutchman in a 4-4-2. Phil Jones returns to central midfield in place of Marouane Fellaini, with Tom Cleverley partnering him in central midfield.

Rafael continues at right-back, while Antonio Valencia is dropped from the starting lineup with Nani on the right wing. Adnan Januzaj also returns to the side.

Intriguingly, Wilfried Zaha is named among the substitutes, with Danny Welbeck also on the bench.

All in all, a pretty promising side. Cleverley is a worry but dropping Valencia was certainly the right move.

Manchester United starting lineup: David de Gea, Rafael, Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra; Adnan Januzaj, Phil Jones, Tom Cleverley, Nani; Robin van Persie, Javier Hernandez.

Subs: Anders Lindegaard, Rio Ferdinand, Anderson, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Wilfried Zaha, Danny Welbeck.

Newcastle United starting lineup: Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini, Davide Santon; Yohan Cabaye, Cheik Tiote, Vurnon Anita; Moussa Sissoko, Loic Remy, Yoann Gouffran
