Ryan Tunnicliffe joins Barnsley side on loan

The midfielder has been thrown into a Championship relegation fight.

Manchester United midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe has joined Barnsley for a 28-day loan. The Championship side are in good form at the moment as they've emerged victorious eight times from their last nine fixtures. However, they are in a battle to avoid relegation as they sit just two points clear of the drop zone. The Tykes are also due to face Manchester City in an upcoming FA quarter-final tie, a match that the Englishman is eligible for. This is the second loan spell for the combative 20-year-old as made 26 appearances last season for Petersborough United.

Tunnicliffe has featured regularly this season for Warren Joyce's U-21 side. He's also made his first-team debut for United in September against Newcastle United during a League Cup match. The occasion was memorable because the midfielder's father -- Mick -- won £10,000 after placing a £100 bet with 100-1 odds that his son would play for United's first-team someday. This bet was placed when Ryan was 9-years-old!
