Manchester United 2-2 Chelsea: Post-Match Reaction (FA Cup)

Well that wasn't fun.

Alex Livesey

That was not the response we hoped for.

It did start wonderfully for Manchester United, though, as they got two early goals from Javier Hernandez (Chicharito) and Wayne Rooney. Michael Carrick played a beautiful pass over the top of the Chelsea defense for Chicharito's looping header. Rooney's curling free-kick was superb, as well, as it had Blues goalkeeper Peter Cech stuck in no man's land -- the Blues goalkeeper wasn't sure whether to save the in-swinger at the far-post or to defend against any possible glancing header from a United player potentially attacking the cross. After that, it got increasingly worse for the Reds and in the second-half, Chelsea deservedly equalised after goals from Eden Hazard and Ramires. The away side were the dominant side for the match's latter-half -- perhaps for even more than that -- and it was only a brilliant David de Gea save towards the end that salvaged a quarter-final replay.

It's obviously been a difficult week for Manchester United. Personally, I'm emotionally drained as a supporter and my brain doesn't really feel like communicating any more thoughts to my fingers to be typed. Perhaps you, though, have steam to let off. This post-match reaction is here for any rants, rallying cries, or just crying.
