The memories of May last year are banished. No more will the blue ribbons be upon the famous Premier League trophy. It comes home tonight.
Title number twenty has been secured. For some, it is another trophy too add to a bulging cabinet. For others, it is a first. And how they deserve it.
Let's quickly cover the match. United were ahead within minutes. Wayne Rooney, deployed in midfield pinged a wonderful ball out to a resurgent Antonio Valencia. He found Rafael who swung it in high for Giggs to lay it across to an unmarked Robin Van Persie who applied the easiest of finishes.
The second was all but easy. Rooney, who started like a house on fire found another wonderful pass. He played it to the left off the furthest CB cross field. It dropped over RVP who had made a lovely run, right onto his bog toe. The left foot swung with perfect technique and found the bottom right corner. Perhaps the goal of the season. Jaw dropping!
And he finished the scoring with a hat trick in the first half. Ryan Giggs was put through by the impressive Shinji Kagawa. The Welshman was one on one but found Robin Van Persie who had to make space before firing into the roof of the net. He is now level on goals with Suarez in the league, WIth the man with the giant nashers doubtful to play again this season, he looks favourite to lift the golden boot. And how fitting that would be. He has been the difference. His goals, his build up play, his class. Yes, he went cold for a little spell, but my word is he back with a bang.
Lets soak this up. Winning a League title is always special. These players all deserve this.
And remember, this is a very young team. I can only see it getting better. Now that is a scary thought for the rest of the league!
Enjoy this. I might have a tickle of Jack Daniels myself!
