Manchester United had been linked with a move for Mesut Ozil this morning by Sky Sports News, although Arsenal will announce the deal for his signature within the next hour, according to Bild.
Manchester United refuted the rumours to Sky Sports News, although it wasn't confirmed that the club had pulled out of a deal. Nonetheless, reports didn't lend much support to the idea, and it seems that United had not made any concrete moves since turning down a move for the player several weeks ago.
This is slightly disappointing, but if we're keeping Wayne Rooney, then we have plenty of candidates for Mesut Ozil's position, particularly at the price. Ander Herrera is an inferior player (for now at least) but is certainly a better fit for our side, assuming it all gets wrapped up.
In other news, one-time United target Juan Mata is also under discussion between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea for a prospective move. Another rival weakened, at least....
