Manchester United confirm intent to see Herrera deal through

Manchester United will secure a deal for Ander Herrera after the club deposited the money to activate the release clause, but Leighton Baines will not be joining the club.

Manchester United will wrap up a deal for Ander Herrera shortly after they agreed terms with the club and player and deposited the money for the transfer, according to AS.

The news seems to remove the last hitch other than a medical for the player, and it looks increasingly likely the deal will go ahead. ESPN have also reported that the club have told them they intend to see the deal through. But in other news, Leighton Baines looks to be staying at Everton. Previous reports have now been added to by Duncan Castles reporting that the move is now dead.

There's still plenty of time to go, and while Marouane Fellaini will be the deal most expected, there could be other surprises in store for the club, although nothing concrete has materialised just yet.
