Mesut Ozil's transfer to Arsenal has been confirmed after Manchester United were linked to the player but reportedly turned down the chance to make an offer.

Mesut Ozil has signed for Arsenal, after Manchester United declined to enter the race for the German midfielder.

So, that's one potential signing for today that we now definitely won't be making. Along with Ander Herrera. And, it increasingly appears, Marouane Fellaini.

There's still a bit of time left to get the Belgian one, but christ, we've left this late. As well as the fact that he won't have a pre-season to be able to bed in with the club, one wonders about the wisdom of this strategy, particularly as the decision to leave Fellaini until later has ende d up costing us more. And we've completely blown the Herrera deal.

Arsene Wenger's Arsenal have had a better transfer window than us, signing more impressive, world-class players. Just think about that for a second. And mull back on the events of today, if you've still got anything left in your stomach to be sick with.
