Wigan pull out of Powell deal, possibly threatening Fellaini move

Wigan Athletic have abruptly pulled out of a deal to sign Nick Powell on loan, as Marouane Fellaini waits for the club to let him sign for Manchester United.

Nick Powell was set to move to Wigan Athletic on loan, according to Dave Whelan via the BBC - yet just minutes later stated the deal would not go ahead via Sky.

The young former Crewe midfielder found chances difficult to come by for the champions last season, and would have looked to get game time as he joined the Latics in the Championship.

Yet Wigan seemed to abandon the deal after declaring that Everton had not matched their valuation of James McCarthy and that he would be staying at the club.

The bad news for United is that this could jeopardise the Marouane Fellaini transfer, with Everton looking to secure a replacement in advance for the outgoing Belgian. Things are certainly getting very crazy as we approach the deadline, and this may prove to not effect the Fellaini deal or go ahead regardless, but it's all looking very odd to say the least.
