Manchester United are increasingly confident that a deal to sign Juan Mata is close and would like to wrap it up before the weekend, according to ESPN's Miguel Delaney.
In a report that also dealt with some interesting transfer news for Manchester United on Arturo Vidal, Delaney states that the pieces look increasingly in place for the deal for Mata to go ahead.
The report states that United have been shocked into action by the defeat at Chelsea, with the previous mantra of not being rushed into panic-buying going out of the window once the faults in the squad were laid bare at Stamford Bridge.
We've discussed the potential merits and problems with this transfer before, and if things go ahead then we shall likely be forced to do so again, but there can't be too many fans not hoping we don't wrap this one up.
