Sunderland vs. Manchester United: Lineups and live coverage

Manchester United look to get a good result from the Stadium of Light in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final against Sunderland. Adnan Januzaj starts at the venue of his breakthrough as David Moyes goes 4-5-1, while Rafael also returns.

Adnan Januzaj and Ryan Giggs are in Manchester United's lineup as they face Sunderland in the League Cup semi-final.

As the picture attests, the Stadium of Light was a site of happier scenes earlier in the year when the youngster bagged a brace to bail United out, and he's starting again tonight, probably in a front three with Danny Welbeck and Antonio Valencia (although we can briefly dream that he's in the number 10 role, even if that would mean Giggs on the wing.)

Elsehwere, Rafael makes a very welcome comeback, and Michael Carrick replaces Darren Fletcher as Moyes goes 4-5-1. Let's hope he makes the adjustment quicker than his predecessor.

Since Chelsea's triumph, you never know, but even if the League Cup isn't our only chance of silverware, it's certainly our best right now. We'll almost certainly be facing Manchester City in the final, but before that, we have a two-legged semi-final against 20th-placed Sunderland to get through.

Manchester United startling lineup: David De Gea, Rafael, Nemanja Vidic, Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra, Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley, Adnan Januzaj, Ryan Giggs; Danny Welbeck.

Subs: Anders Lindegaard, Chris Smalling, Javier Hernandez, Darren Fletcher, Shinji Kagawa, Alexander Büttner, Wilfried Zaha.

Sunderland starting lineup: Mannone, Bardsley, Alonso, Brown, O'Shea (C), Larsson, Cattermole, Ki, Giaccherini, Borini, Fletcher.
