Milan confirm talks with United over mid-season friendly

New, comments

It looks as though Manchester United will be jetting out to the Middle East this winter.

So who saw this coming? Oh, right, everybody. Still, here's confirmation that Manchester United are pressing ahead with their plan to fill the empty, Europe-free weeks with prestige friendlies. Via the Manchester Evening News, here is AC Milan director Umberto Gandini on a purported meeting with United

This is something we have been talking about for a few weeks and we have a committed interest to do something together. It's just a question to find the right date and then to find the right place.

The paper reckon that somewhere in the Middle East is the likely destination, and identifies January 28 as a potential date. There are no league or European fixtures that night — not that either United or Milan have any interest in Europe this season — and while it would clash with the Capital One Cup, MK Dons made sure that wasn't going to be a problem.

TBB is a confirmed mid-season friendly sceptic, but if the bean-counters haven't got enough beans to count, then perhaps the club doesn't have that much choice. And if it is to be Milan, then at least it's another chance to enjoy the comedy stylings of this man. What a hero.
