It's Friday, it's mid-afternoon, and that's means it's time for Louis van Gaal's thoughts on the game ahead. Do not, incidentally, mistake an afternoon press conference for a morning one. Not even when you're in the right.
Still getting used to Van Gaal's ways. "Morning," we said today. He stared back. "Morning has passed." (It was 11.56am).

So, what news? Well, Luke Shaw's out for a few weeks but no longer, as he has a ligament injury "but with no serious complications". Better news up front and at the back, however, comes with the possible return of Radamel Falcao and Marcos Rojo:
We have to wait and see until the last training session of course. It's always difficult to say but we have good news, yes. You have to read between the lines. I have to train the last session and I live day by day at this moment. So maybe Falcao can come back in the 18 [player squad], maybe Rojo can come back in the 18. That's it I think.
So, what do people expect? The back five to stay, with Ashley Young on the left? A return to a back four, with either Blackett or a returning Rojo at leftback? Van Persie to hang onto his place, or one of Falcao or James Wilson to displace him? Predict the correct lineup in the comments, and you could win a prize!
NOTE: There is no prize.
