Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand are the biggest surprises in the teamsheet as United look to come back versus Olympiakos.
The two veterans make rare starts along with Danny Welbeck and Antonio Valencia playing on the wings, with Adnan Januzaj, Shinji Kagawa, Ashley Young and Marouane Fellaini all on the bench.
Some odd decisions there, although it's possible that, given Januzaj's declining form and Fellaini's recent return from injury that neither were deemed 100% fit. Still, though. Carrick-Giggs? Antonio Valencia? Good grief.
Welbeck's inclusion is a pleasant one, although he's on the wing where he tends to be pretty marginalised. Let's hope Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie can actually do something this time. Hopefully the atmosphere at Old Trafford will be vaguely conducive to such a task...
Manchester United starting lineup: David De Gea; Rafael, Rio Ferdinand, Phil Jones, Patrice Evra; Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs; Antonio Valencia, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck; Robin van Persie. Subs: Lindegaard, Fellaini, Fletcher, Januzaj, Kagawa, Young, Hernandez.
