West Ham vs. Manchester United: An very bizarre lineup from David Moyes

David Moyes has named an odd Manchester United lineup to take on West Ham United, with Michael Carrick starting at centre-back and Darren Fletcher also in the side.

Manchester United have named a lineup so strange that we here at TBB towers had begun to debate the potential varieties and merits of it when we realised OH GOD NO, OH JESUS CHRIST NO, coming over all Sergeant Howie after seeing that Michael Carrick is starting in central defence.

The weirdness doesn't end there - Alexander Buttner is at left-back. Juan Mata and Shinji Kagawa both start, Ashley Young is in there too, Wayne Rooney is the only striker and Darren Fletcher and Marouane Fellaini is the midfield.

So, that's either a 4-4-1-1 with Kagawa in the hole and Mata wide left, or Mata in the hole and Kagawa out wide.

Presumably inspired by resting players for Manchester City. What do we reckon?

Oh, and for some more weirdness, Nani is on the bench.

Manchester United starting lineup: David De Gea; Rafael, Phil Jones, Michael Carrick, Alexander Buttner; Juan Mata, Darren Fletcher, Marouane Fellaini, Ashley Young; Shinji Kagawa; Wayne Rooney.

Subs: Lindegaard, Evra, Nani, Cleverley, Januzaj, Hernandez, Welbeck.
