Manchester United have been linked with Ezequiel Garay for what now seems like an eternity, but it's looking increasingly like the deal could happen. The Mirror are reporting United are the frontrunners to sign the Argentine international, though there could be competition from both Manchester City and Zenit St. Petersburg.
Would it be a good signing for United? Well, with Nemanja Vidić leaving and Rio Ferdinand hopefully being given a nudge, we are certainly in need of a centre-back or two. How good Garay actually is, is questionable. He's now 27 and still playing in Portugal, when you'd expect a genuinely top player to have moved to one of Europe's biggest teams way earlier.
However, as we've seen all too well in the past, signing genuinely top tier players isn't as easy as it sounds, and with United struggling so badly in defence at present, we can't really afford to be too picky.
