According to a report in the Mirror this morning, Manchester United representatives -- including one of the Glazers -- met with the Netherlands' departing national team coach Louis van Gaal at "a secret location in Europe" over the last couple of days, over the prospect of him replacing David Moyes at Old Trafford.
The 62-year-old has been strongly linked with taking over at Tottenham Hotspur next season, though the delay in any confirmation could well be because the Dutchman is holding out over the United job.
van Gaal is a famously stubborn disciplinarian, but undoubtedly has the coaching CV to justify his methods. Having won a Champions League, a UEFA Cup and league titles in the Netherlands, Spain and Germany, he's one of the few coaches with a genuinely world class pedigree readily available to take over at Old Trafford.
It looked like recent results had bought Moyes some time, but these reports suggest his position is still far from secure.
