Giggs to take over as United to announce Moyes sacking "as early as Tuesday"

Manchester United will announce the sacking of David Moyes 'as early as Tuesday', according to Ian Herbert in the Independent.

Manchester United will announce that David Moyes has been sacked as Manchester United manager 'as early as Tuesday', according to the Independent.

The report, from Ian Herbert, contains a number of intriguing tidbits - more on which very shortly on TBB - but it seems that Moyes will not last to see the next United game, against Norwich City on Saturday.

That means that Ryan Giggs is the likeliest candidate to take over in a caretaker manager role - possibly giving him a brief audition for the fulltime job in the remaining fixtures.

It's not known precisely what the hold-up with the announcement is, but it would seems silly to keep Moyes on now that everybody knows he's certain to get the chop. The New York Stock Exchange will need to be informed, of course, and there may be other odds and ends to get tied up to sort things out.

And as for the process of securing the next Manchester United manager...
