Think Luke Shaw is our long-term left-back fix? That doesn't necessarily seem to be the case. Schalke 04 defender Sead Kolašinac has reportedly revealed that he has received an offer from Manchester United, after impressing in a season in which he's made 20 Bundesliga starts.
He's quoted in the Express as telling Bosnian newspaper Dnevni avaz:
Yes, I have an offer from Manchester United. But I will not hurry the decision. I have to see what Schalke think about it.
Of course, these quotes could be entirely manufactured or floated by an agent in the hope of drumming up some interest. There's no way of verifying them.
But intriguingly the 20-year-old German-born Bosnian international seems to fit Louis van Gaal's full-back criteria; their defensive attributes being more important than their attacking ones. Kolašinac is an excellent tackler, but is yet to convince going forward. Maybe, just maybe, there's more to these quotes than you'd expect.
