Another day, another delay. According to Mark Ogden in the Telegraph this morning, Manchester United are delaying confirming Louis van Gaal as their new manager until next week, in order to "respect preparations" for the Netherlands' friendly against Ecuador this weekend.

The good news is that most of the messy paperwork business seems to have been completed, though there are apparently still a few "minor contractual issues" which have to be dealt with. Let's just hope the 'minor issues' don't cause any unforeseen major ones.

According to Ogden, Ryan Giggs' talks with van Gaal in the Netherlands yesterday went well, as he's set to be offered a "senior role" in the Dutchman's backroom staff, though there are still question marks over the futures of Paul Scholes -- who will reportedly be holding talks with United today -- and Nicky Butt. Phil Neville and goalkeeping coach Chris Woods are still expected to be given the boot.

The wait goes on ...
