Manchester United vs. Hull City: Wilson and Lawrence handed debuts, Giggs on bench

New, comments

Ryan Giggs has handed Manchester United debuts to strikers Tom Lawrence and James Wilson, while naming himself on the bench.

Chris Brunskill

Well, well. Ryan Giggs has named quite the lineup for Manchester United's final home game of the season, putting outgoing club captain Nemanja Vidić and himself on the bench, perhaps hinting at one final farewell of his own. Alex Büttner plays at left-back and Antonio Valencia at right-back, with Marouane Fellaini back into the midfield alongside Michael Carrick.

The real big story comes up front, where two youngsters are handed their Manchester United debuts. With Wayne Rooney out and Robin van Persie only fit enough to make the bench, James Wilson will partner Tom Lawrence up top. Probably. Quite how this formation will work out, TBB doesn't really have a clue, but we don't have long to wait to find out. This should be interesting, to say the least ...

Manchester United confirmed starting lineup: David De Gea; Alexander Büttner, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia; Shinji Kagawa, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Adnan Januzaj; James Wilson, Tom Lawrence.

Subs: Ben Amos, Nemanja Vidić, Michael Keane, Juan Mata, Ryan Giggs, Ashley Young, Robin van Persie.

Hull City confirmed starting lineup: Eldin Jakupović; Maynor Figueroa, Curtis Davies, Alex Bruce, Liam Rosenior; George Boyd, David Meyler, Stephen Quinn, Ahmed Elmohamady; Robert Koren; Shane Long.
