Phil Jones injured vs Hull just three days before England squad announcement

It could be bad news for Phil Jones as he limped off with an injury during Manchester United's game against Hull City.

After a heavy collision with Maynor Figueroa, Jones trudged off down the tunnel to allow Nemanja Vidic to make his Old Trafford swansong.

It's not much of an issue for us, of course, since we only have one meaningless game left, but it could be bad news for his hopes of making England's World Cup squad - the preliminary selection is named on Friday and if the injury is an even slightly lengthy one it could cast serious doubts over his chances of making the plane to Brazil.

Still, when our mysterious lord closes a door, he opens a window, and it could be good news for our own Chris Smalling if he is injured.
