Premier League fixtures 2014-15: Manchester United match schedule

New, comments

United will start next season at home to Swansea City, as Louis van Gaal looks to have been fortunate with his side's opening games.

Michael Steele

Last season, David Moyes was so startled by United's tricky opening run of fixtures that he suggested, a touch peculiarly, that the Premier League were seeking to make things exciting for everybody else. His successor, Louis van Gaal, will likely be less perturbed by what looks, at least on paper, to be a relatively smooth start.

United will open at home to Swansea City on 16 August 2014, the reverse of last season's opener, and then travel to Sunderland. Then comes consecutive games against the three newly-promoted teams: Burnley and QPR away, Leicester City at home. The first game against any of the team that finished above United last season is the visit of Everton on 4 October.

The immutable law of swings and roundabouts, however, mean that United face a decidedly tricky run in. The last seven games include the home derby against Manchester City followed immediately by a trip to Chelsea, before Arsenal visit Old Trafford in the penultimate game of the season. United's final fixture takes them to Hull City.

Some dates of note: Liverpool visit Old Trafford on 13 December, with United going to Anfield on March 21. The derby games are at the Etihad on 1 November, then back at Old Trafford on 11 April. Chelsea at home is 25 October, away is 18 April, and the Arsenal games are 22 November at Old Trafford, and 16 May at the Emirates.

Full dates below, subject of course to change at the whim of television. No European football means United can probably expect a fair few Monday nights. The rest of the league's games can be found on the official Premier League website.
